Museum Galleries

A view in a gallery of a female guide giving a tour to a group of five young people who are laughing and listening.

An ever-changing group of selected works from the Museum’s collection are displayed in several thematic galleries at the Museum in Santa Fe. These galleries share Georgia O’Keeffe’s art from O’Keeffe’s student days and early work to some of her latest paintings. These sections include watercolors, charcoal drawings, pastels, oil paintings, and sculptures, spanning a career of more than eighty years. Through these, and drawing from our photographic collections, the Museum offers an unparalleled window into O’Keeffe’s practice as an artist.

Large pinkish/orange shell that dominates most of the canvas, with a much smaller shell beside it on the lower left. Both are oval in shape and open to their undersides, exposing the dark glossy pink of the inside of a shell. They are nestled on a white cloth or tissue paper that has folds suggesting a depth, as if the objects are in a box. The larger shell is chipped on it's upper left tip.
