Family Fun Day: Flower Power!
This event is free to the public. Free Museum Admission for all who attend. In honor of Valentine's Day, join us to celebrate the importance of flowers!
Did you know flowers have their own language? The language of flowers has been recognized for centuries in many countries throughout Europe and Asia. They even play a large role in William Shakespeare’s works. Mythologies, folklore, sonnets, and plays of the ancient Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, and Chinese are peppered with flower and plant symbolism. For example, yellow roses can symbolize friendship and loyalty, while red chrysanthemums can say, “I love you.”
Georgia O’Keeffe understood the immense power a flower can hold – that’s why she loved to paint them so much. In honor of Valentine’s Day, join us to celebrate the importance of flowers through a variety of hands-on artmaking, interactive in-gallery activities, and story-time. Families can also enjoy free admission to our special exhibition, ‘Georgia O’Keeffe: Making A Life.’

Family Fun Day will be held across the entire Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Campus. Please visit us first in the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Education Annex (located at 123 Grant Ave) when you arrive to receive your day pass, campus map, and schedule of activities for the day.
The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum is proud to introduce Family Fun Day: occurring on the second Sunday of every month, this event aims to bring the community together through hands-on artmaking and storytelling, as well as encouraging kids and families to take a new approach in looking at and interacting with art. Family Fun Day is offered in partnership with the Santa Fe Children’s Museum and Santa Fe Public Libraries.
