Traveling Exhibitions

During the course of the next two years, several of the exhibitions that the Museum has originated will be traveling to other art museums across the country.  While we have done this in the past we have never done so at this rate.  Three consecutive exhibitions will be “on the road” in different geographical areas providing audiences who cannot travel to Santa Fe the opportunity to view them.

Below is a list of the exhibitions to which I refer and the museums that will be hosting them.  Organizing a traveling exhibition is more time consuming because of the nature and length of art loans, insurance, shipping and accommodating the schedules of other institutions; however, the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum’s offsite attendance is dramatically increased (in our case we anticipate by at least 250,000 visitors) and the Museum’s reputation for its high-quality programs comes to be more widely known and appreciated.  In our particular case I wish to extend my thanks to the Museum staff who are working so diligently on these projects, and to the funders who have made them possible.  If you missed seeing one of these exhibitions in Santa Fe, please make a point of seeing it in one of the other exciting cities to which it is traveling.
